Sleep Max
Sleep Max is a natural sleep aid formulated to promote deep, restful sleep and improve overall sleep quality.
In This Review
Lack of sleep is a major problem not only in the U.S. but all around world. There are so many people suffering from insomnia, some doctors have called it an epidemic. As a consequence, companies have pushed out pharmaceutical and herbal treatments to meet demand. Sleep Max PM is the best-selling product produced by a private company with the same name. Sleep Max is marketed as “nature’s night time sleep aid” and it is indeed natural, but natural cannot be taken as synonymous with good or healthy. There are so many products on the market now that there is no reason to use a supplement that is lacking in quality, ingredients, customer support, or convenience. Sleep Max has its proponents and it may work for some individuals but sleep is so important and affects so many other aspects of life that it doesn’t make sense to take any chances. What does make sense is to review each product and find the facts about all the ingredients and how putting them into your body affects your health and symptoms.

Sleep Max Ingredients
Sleep Max contains a blend of three herbal supplements with melatonin, calcium, and magnesium. All of these ingredients make sense except for one, valerian root extract. Valerian root has been used effectively to treat anxiety and restlessness. It is only recently that it has been marketed to those with sleep disorders. Experts in natural remedies and scientific studies alike have shown no conclusive evidence that valerian root can help those with sleep disorders and, in fact, could have a negative impact. Passion flower is another ingredient in Sleep Max.

Incomplete, preliminary reports suggest that passion flower has benzodiazepine-like sedative effects but these are not conclusive and even if proven, they do not translate directly into a treatment for insomnia. The last herbal supplement in Sleep Max is chamomile. Chamomile has been used for thousands of years for a long list of ailments. The problem is that nothing on the list has shown to be alleviated through chamomile. Two mineral supplements in Sleep Max are Magnesium oxide and Calcium carbonate. Both are beneficial, but neither is primarily used for help with sleeping. The one ingredient that cannot be refuted is melatonin. Melatonin is a natural hormone proven effective in creating regular sleep cycles.
Sleep Max Side Effects
For the most part, the ingredients of Sleep Max have very few, if any, side effects – except in the case of valerian root extract. Passion flower and chamomile have not shown any side effects, but at the same time, studies have not been conducted and sometimes differing species contain different compounds and the exact species used in Sleep Max is not made known. The minerals are free from side-effects and melatonin has only a few contraindications with some prescription medications. The valerian root in Sleep Max has several side effects that vary from person to person.
Some have reported dizziness, depression, trouble thinking clearly, and apathy. It is also known to cause morning drowsiness and in rare instances, night terrors and allergic reactions. Prolonged use can also cause gastrointestinal disorders.

Does Sleep Max Work?
Some individuals have found Sleep Max to work, but for the most part, the ingredients are either too neutral, having no effect at all, or they are not effective in preventing sleeplessness but could help with other disorders. Sleep Max can be commended for being all-natural, but the inclusion of valerian root could lead to significant problems. Sleep Max cannot be recommended due to the combination of ingredients.
